New 3DS RPG, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Announced

Posted on Thursday, February 14 @ 06:52:59 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

Nintendo has just pulled back the curtain on another new title coming to the 3DS.

It's called Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, and as you might have guessed, it will serve as the next proper entry in the beloved Mario & Luigi role-playing series. Interestingly enough, the game focuses primarily on Luigi, as the entire game takes place within the green plumber's dreams.

Mario & Luigi: Dream Team is set to launch sometime this summer. Get excited!

Looks pretty cool. More 3DS software is great news, but Luigi's mansion is out next month, so a fall release makes more sense to me. I love the Bros, but I can only take so much of the green one :P

Maybe Nintendo has given up on the Wii U already, and that's why so many solid 3DS games are being previewed this morning.

I like to think that a year from now we will have this many great wii U games on deck. As crappy a start as the U has had, I still think 3DS came out of the gates worse and a few years later it's kicking ass. As much crap as I deservedly give wiiU (sluggish interface, no achievements, limited support for pro controller, first party games not having online multiplayer, no analog triggers on controllers, etc.) systems almost never launch with good titles and it is typically at least one year until we see true AAA titles start coming in bunches.

The 3DS didn't have a stellar launch either. Pilotwings, followed by 3D ports of Star Fox 64 and Ocarina of Time wasn't much to scoff at.

So Mario & Luigi: Dream Team is the unofficial sequel to the U.S. version of Super Mario Bros. 2?
