New Batman: Arkham Title Confirmed For Later This Year

Posted on Tuesday, February 12 @ 08:10:38 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

During the company's investor call, Warner Bros. confirmed that we'll be seeing a new entry in the Batman: Arkham franchise later this year.

Company CFO John K Martin had the following to say about their plans for their gaming sector in 2013:

And we also have a strong games release this year, which will include the next release in the Batman Arkham franchise. So all in all, we expect Warners to post another very strong year in 2013. And with a little luck, the year should be as good or maybe even a little bit better than 2012.

There was no mention as to whether or not Rocksteady is the team behind this game or what platforms it will launch on, so there are still several key questions yet to be answered.

Are you excited for a third entry in the series? Would Rocksteady's absence be a total deal breaker for you? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

I don't think I'll bother if Rocksteady isn't at the helm. It seems almost blasphemous. However, WB Studios owns Rocksteady, so it doesn't make sense for them to outsource Arkham to another studio.

Maybe we will get lucky and they will use unreal engine 4. Both the first games had great nvidia physx and the second had awesome dx11 as well.

Why would you get anyone else but Rocksteady to make it, it doesn't make any sense. They pretty much proved you can make a great Batman game.

Rocksteady should take a break on Batman, I think. What they should do now is take on Superman.

The problem with all the past Superman games (besides being given to developers and publishers that don't give a damn) is that they all dumb down Superman to conform to traditional game design. What really should be done (and I think Rocksteady is more than capable of doing) is build a game around Superman and all his abilities, rather than dampen the character's powers to fit a regular game.
