New Chrome Xbox Controllers

Posted on Monday, April 2 @ 12:56:51 Eastern by Keri_Honea

Are you tired of playing with the same old Xbox 360 controller, but you don't want to buy a 3rd party controller or a specific-game-related one? Here's your chance! Major Nelson announced on his blog today that in May, Microsoft will sell new "Chrome" controllers in blue, red, and silver.

In addition to fun colors, the controllers will also offer a new d-pad, something Xbox 360 fans have been wanting since 2006.

Controllers will cost $55, and sadly, the colors will vary by region. Contact your preferred retailer to see which colors they will have, or just go to Amazon and preorder the one you want when that opens up. You know it will.

If I didn't just get a new Mass Effect-themed controller, I'd be all over the blue one.

$55 is a bit steep for what is essentially is a peripheral you will never look at while you use it.
Won't a regular controller+ a downloadable game sound more tempting? Ok, maybe not.

im a fan of the Razer Onza TE controllers, price is a bit high but it has kickass graphics, extra remappable bumpers, shorter buttons for fasters reactions, adjustable resistance analog sticks. the only problem is theyre wired but that doesnt bother me.

I bought one of the transforming D-pad controllers a while back, but these look really nice... might break the other controller.

I could never own one of those. I'd be constantly cleaning off the smudge marks.

Ooooh shiny indeed. I think I'd have to go plain silver. Maybe red. But I agree with everyone that'd I be cleaning the smudges off all the time. Plus, I don't need a controller. I've got my GR skinned one that I won a whiles back :D
