New DmC: Devil May Cry Screens Are Bleeding Edge
Posted on Thursday, March 1 @ 14:19:35 Eastern by Daniel Bischoff
Are you still upset about Dante's new look in DmC: Devil May Cry? The first Devil May Cry game to be developed outside of Capcom and you're super pissed? Who the hell is Ninja Theory and what have they done to your white-haired protagonist?
Get over it. Seriously.
It's just hair, hair that turns white when Dante engages Devil Trigger mode. Seriously, what is this? Sim Beauty Salon 2000? Bunch of whiners. Besides, these screens look pretty cool, although I'm eager for another glance at the game in action.
You know, I didn't mind the last DmC for PS3 with Nero but playing nero for 2/3 of a game and then switching to dante sucked only because the control schemes were so different. It looks like this one will have only one character so cheers to one control sceme for the game.
I don't think anyone ever thought Dante was "cool", the only reason I'm bummed is because they changed the whole tone of the game to make it really serious. I mean pulling off 3,000 hit combos and then watching a cutscene where Dante runs down the side of a building or surfs on the body of an enemy is just straight up parody of Japanese video games. If they're going to make the story serious all of a sudden I can't say I really care enough to play it.
It wouldn't be too bad, I mean I'd probably skip all the cutscenes but I'd still play it. However, from what I've seen of the gameplay it looks very toned down.
Good lord, considering almost your entire article is about how fans shouldn't complain about his hair color, I hate to break it to you that Dante's hair color is not why people hate this game. It literally shares nothing in common with the source material, and unlike how the Deus Ex reboot was handled (i.e. Eidos was patient with the fans and kept assuring them the game was in good hands instead of lashing out at them, and the naysayers eventually came around), Ninja Theory has been pretty prolific with insulting the past franchise and telling the fans that they could care less what they think. Not exactly the best approach considering their past track record has been sketchy at best.
There's no logical reason to even call the game Devil May Cry anymore, that's how completely different every aspect is, and they're not even trying to hide it. To a lot of people this is one of the most blatant examples of exploiting and cashing in on a namebrand in recent memory.
Ah, well thank you for explaining. I'll be the first to admit that I haven't played a lot of DMC, I haven't played this one at all, and the last action game I really liked was Bayonetta soooo, I guess I'm not so concerned with this.
Honestly until the whole hair thing I had no idea people loved DMC that much.

This. but in addition to that, the hair was a part of Dante's character to me. Throughout 4 games, that's the Dante I've come to know. Turning him into some R rated Twilight looking emo Vampire is ridiculous. and he's apparently Half-angel, half-demon now. I mean really...
