New Domain Registries Suggest Batman Arkham Sequel Coming

Posted on Monday, January 14 @ 10:26:37 Eastern by

Anyone staring at Batman: Arkham City somewhere in their backlogs (Keri!) needs to get on it before the next game arrives. While the second Arkham game from WB Games and Rocksteady didn't wait long after Arkham Asylum to reveal itself, the first warning of a third game in the series comes over a year since the previous game landed in the form of new domains registered to WB Games.

With 15 domains registered in total, there are a handful of subtitles to choose from, but it certainly seems like this Batman is sticking to Arkham. Here's the list:
  • arkhamuniverse.com
  • batmanarkhamuniverse.com
  • batmanarkhamarises.com
  • batmanarkhambegins.com
  • batmanarkhamdarkknight.com
  • batmanarkhamknight.com
  • batmanarkhamlegend.com
  • batmanarkhamlegends.com
  • batmanarkhamnight.com
  • batmanarkhamorigins.com
  • batmanarkhamstories.com
  • darkknightarkham.com
  • dcarkhamuniverse.com
  • dcarkhamverse.com
  • thearkhamuniverse.com
If you've been paying attention to DC's business plan, you'll have noticed that "DC Universe" animated films draw from plotlines in comics quite heavily, so don't be surprised if this all leads to an Arkham-inspired animated movie or two.

Still, I'll be hoping the villains of Arkham City get loose and wreak havok again. I'm ready for anything that gets me back into the boots of arguably the greatest super hero of all time.

I couldn't agree more, especially from Rocksteady. I'd really like to see Nightwing and Robin playable in story mode, aside from dlc. I really hope the third game isn't called Arkham Universe though. It sounds a bit cheesy to me, but I could be wrong. I usually am.

Agreed. The challenge maps are fun, but I got more than my share of them on the way to the Platinum Trophy.

Yeah...a few different playable characters as part of the main campaign would add a significant amount of replayability. Would have definitely liked to have played through the AC campaign with nightwing and robin...would have made a 20 hour game arond 6. Didn't even need to change the story to make it fit just switch skin and move sets and add different challenges.

Huzzah! I can't wait. Batman: Arkham Knight sounds like the best & most likely title out of those listed.

Gotta agree with you on this. Of the domains, Arkham Knight(s) sounds the best.

Arkham Universe sounds like an MMO (god if you exist please don't let it be this, ill throw out my copy of the Satanic Bible if you intervene). I like Arkham Legends, though it makes it sound like a Mortal Kombat style fighting game. Either way it will be amazing.

Yeah I would hate for it to be an MMO. That would be the worst possible outcome.

I'm gonna say, the next game will be: Batman: Arkham Origins.
Still haven't finished Arkham City, will have to do that.
I blame WoW for taking all the time. :D

If they do Arkham Origins, it's going to be pretty tough to get me to buy it. I have faith in Rocksteady, but I don't have much faith in prequels and origin stories.

As a comics fan, origin stories are the bane of my existence when it comes to movies and games.

Arkham Universe to me doesn't sound like an MMO, but a central hub for its game. Last year, was it not announced the next game is going to be a prequel? I hope the next game isn't title Batman: Arkham Origins, but we'll just need to be patient and wait.

I really didn't care for the story in Arkham City, but since it did well, I doubt they'd change up the formula for the next game. All the different plot threads were rather insubstantial, and the ending had me very confused. Why would Batman carry The Joker in his arms with emotionally-charged music playing when there was a woman he apparently loved right there as well?

if that bothered you, do not read Batman: Cacophony or Batman: The Widening Gyre. Kevin Smith's pitiful attempts at writing a Batman story. stick to what you do best, Mr. Smith.

Sweet Jebus yes. I have not enjoyed any games ever as much as I have enjoyed the Arkham games.
