LATEST FEATURES Being A Console Is Actually Xbox One's Worst Asset
Microsoft's newest console has lots of different features, but video games might hold the device back from the software giant's true intentions.

Posted on Thursday, April 26 @ 18:51:36 Eastern by

While the Vita launched with full retail games available via both the PSN and retail shops everywhere, the 3DS has been kicking the idea around for some time. At a financial results meeting in Japan, Nintendo has revealed that the first full game available via the eShop and retail will be New Super Mario Bros 2.

The company detailed that consumers will be able to purchase the software at retail either as a boxed cartridge or as a download code for the 3DS eShop. Nintendo has also stated that digital downloads of full retail games will be available at launch for the Wii U.

We'll have more information on New Super Mario Bros 2 at E3 and beyond.

Full big games as download options? Seems like Nintendo is really trying to get everything right.

I heard this elsewhere. It's pretty interesting news. I'm glad that they're leaving the choice between digital downloading and physical media rather than just going all one or the other. I'm definitely sticking with physical media, because my laughable American-grade "broadband" is nowhere near fast enough to download several-gigabyte sized software. Once the U.S. gets serious about upgrading its infrastructure, maybe we'll get internet speeds that match what they have in Europe and Asia. And maybe then I can switch to purely digital media. We'll see.
