New Zelda Remake For 3DS Coming?

Posted on Wednesday, June 13 @ 09:40:58 Eastern by Keri_Honea

Many Zelda fanatics were quite pleased with the Ocarina of Time remake for the 3DS, and it looks like Nintendo wants to appease them one more time. According to Shigeru Miyamoto, they are looking at remaking either Majora's Mask or A Link to the Past.

In an interview with IGN, he said that "this is something we've certainly been talking about and doing a little bit of experimenting with." He has been partial to A Link to the Past, but considering Majora's Mask is a direct sequel to Ocarina of Time, it would make sense to follow up the 3DS Ocarina with a 3DS Majora's Mask.

Which would you prefer, or would you rather have a completely new Zelda experience on the 3DS?

I think Nintendo would be smart in remaking link to the past; that game is so damn popular.

LttP would be the best choice IMO, ideally top-down polygonal, like the DS ones. But with button usage.
Though I probably will never get a 3DS, so my vote is worth nothing, rien, nada, nitchivo...

If they remake Majora's Mask the child screaming in me would force my purchase of a 3DS.

I vote MM. I've never enjoyed the 2D Zeldas as much as the 3D ones, and I haven't played MM since I first got it on N64.

I actually loved the Zelda series (I replayed ALttP all the way through more than any game I've owned) until the 3D iterations and then stopped even bothering after I couldn't get into Ocarina or Majora's. I don't own a 3DS but a rehash of one of my favorite all time games could sway me to partake.

I'd like to see Majora's Mask as well. It makes the most sense, what with the architecture in place from OoT.

Majoras mask makes sense since it can really use the 3D effects well.

Aside from Majora's Mask 3D making the most sense (to follow up Ocarina of Time 3D), they've already remade Link to the Past once on GBA. They need to look elsewhere before remaking it a second time.

Majora's Mask as i have not played that one. Also i hate A Link to the Past and i have tried to like it, once on super nintendo, and once on GBA, still hated it. I would be all for Links Awakening to be remade in 3D though.

A Link to the Past is a great game, but so is Majora's Mask. I'm in the boat that says Majora's Mask should be remade.

Majora's Mask was made on the concept of developing a full Zelda game in a relatively short time span, using many already-available resources (including engine, models/textures, etc.) from Ocarina of Time. They should be able to do nearly the same thing for the 3DS remake, since Ocarina of Time 3D (and thus all of its resources) is up and running on the handheld. Or if they want to port Majora's Mask's engine directly, they should be able to do so easily using the knowledge they learned from porting OoT's.

Plus, some of the more memorable moments in Majora's Mask would be REALLY trippy in 3D.

The only reason i'd like to play Majora's Mask on the 3DS is because I've never played it before. If I get to play it in 3D for the first time, you KNOW it'll be trippy as balls.

    MM has my vote.
