Next-Gen Worms Battleground Arrives May 30

Posted on Monday, May 19 @ 08:50:31 PST by

UK-based publisher and developer Team17 has revealed via press release that Worms Battlegrounds for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will be release in just a several weeks on May 30, available as both a digital download and a boxed retail copy. The only caveat is that US fans will only be able to download the game digitally on June 3.

The game itself features 25 story missions in single-player, multiplayer deathmatch and fort modes, 1080p 60fps, clan support, and 65 weapons and utilities. Some of the new items can only be guessed as to their function: Bovine Blitz, Winged Monkey, Gravedigger, and Whoopsie Cushion. The Xbox One version gets a SmartGlass companion app track stats, while the PS4 version gets a companion website.

Worms Battlegrounds is, as Team17 reminds us, among the first titles released by Microsoft's ID@Xbox program where indies can self-publish games on Xbox One.
