I can't stand them either, I never could. To me Microsoft is the annoying little brother who wants to copy everything that everyone is doing. Nothing is more apparent with them jumping(stumbling would be a better term perhaps) into the console market, trying to compete with Apple for years with computers, and recently(funny as it was) the MP3 player market. Now they are trying to compete with Apple again with their Tablet. The thing I find funny was when the Wii released Microsoft laughed saying it wouldn't last, but when it over took the 360 in sales the tune changed and they had their own version of motion control with Kinect(Sony is guilty of doing too). Nothing they do is innovative or original, they are always copying off of someone else and trying to do it better only for it to fall apart(Zune cough cough). Sony has done it in the past too, but they have innovated in a lot of markets, from media, to hardware.

What has Microsoft done? Consistently drop the ball with buggy unwieldy Operating Systems, and virtually leech off what everyone else has brought to the table. I sound like I'm trolling, but I hated Microsoft long before the XBOX ever existed

I actually like this guy. I know a lot of people find him obnoxious and egotistical but he speaks the truth. He says what tons of other high profile people in the industry don't have the balls to say. Also, dat shirt.

That's why people find him obnoxious, because unlike other developers in the industry he's not afraid to speak his mind and I like that. He doesn't sugar coat it.

Based on what he's said of which I'm aware, by and large, it's not him people find intolerable. It's the fawning cult of lickspittles who carry his every pronunciation as though it were the word of the risen Jesus. And it's not enough to try something new and come up with new ideas but they have to take endless dumps on everything. Whether he likes it or knows it or cares, Blow has attracted a tremendous following in the only set more obnoxious and irritating than dudebro casuals; hipster casuals. I don't blame him for it but it's still dreadful.

Wonderful, because i don't have enough gadgets that focus on everything else... When i buy a game console i am doing so to play some damn games. But to be hones you can't be surprised if Microsoft was about games maybe they would have had invested in a half decent new IP over the last few years

That is true! Look are their joke of first party support. Halo, Gears, and Fable. They are all decent games, but really they could have benefitted from more.

Its also going to be about fitness, and dancing, and watching movies!

I miss the days when game consoles was about playing some ****ing games. Now we got spoiled kids crying that the Wii and the Wii-U sucks for not having a DVD player, because surely they need another DVD player on top of the 4 they most likely own!

I commented on this story on IGN and got land blasted by a very obnixous troll, so I think things will better for me on here. Here we go!(Takes a deep breath) If Jonathan Blow is telling the truth about the next XBOX(which I believe he is, developers have more credence than a "Analyst" does) then Microsoft better just drop out of the race now and save them some shame. This approach that they want to take, is not the logical one. I don't like the fact that they seemed to want to steer the system towards a Media Center approach. It's almost like a middle finger to all those people who have supported them since the original XBOX. They are putting games second over this media center crap. They need to focus on video games, strong hardware, and for the love god no always online. Sony is taking a media approach with the PS4 as well, but they are putting video games first. Nothing was more apparent during their conference. I just wish that the primary focus would be just videogames...

You guys are all correct. The joke rings true. 32 bit extensions and a graphical shell for a 16 bit patch to an 8 bit operating system originally coded for a 4 bit microprocessor, written by a 2 bit company, that can't stand 1 bit of competition.

Are you pissed off that your phone can do more than call and receive calls?! NO YOU ARE NOT. You love it, you love that it can play games, text, email, go online etc. Why the hell would a gaming system in this day and age limit itself to just games?

I'm as hardcore a gamer as it gets, and yet I love that my Xbox is a multimedia center. And to anyone not paying attention, Sony is trying to do everything the Xbox does multimedia-wise, it's just not as good (minus bluray). I've never felt that I get less of a gaming experience because it can do extra stuff, and I don't see them changing that in the future. This is all talk anyway given that nothing has been announced yet so let's just wait and see.

I also hate that all I seem to comment about these days is defending Microsoft, but someone has to. If the 360 is so bad, why does it have a bigger market share than the PS3?

In this day and age, most people already got multiple devices that can do multiple things already. Why do I need one more and pay for crap that I probably won't ever use or CAN'T use?

I own an Xbox, a PS3 and a Wii. A DS and a PSP. I use Windows, but I have an iPod and an Android phone/tablet. I am pretty much as far from a "fanboy" as it gets.

It's your opinion that it's inferior, cool man power to you. But nothing anyone says can diminish the experiences I've had, in which I've found I prefer the Xbox to the PS3.

I have a 360 and a ps3 and I don't care for one more than the other. I will most likely get a ps4 and a 720. I highly doubt they will make video games second to multimedia on a video game console. They just want to have those who don't play games as much still be interested in their console.

Between everything going wrong on the console side and the incipient revival of the old school philosophies in on PC it's starting to look like the real winners of the 8th generation will be the glorious PC gaming master race.

I have one question. If PCs are so great, why is Valve making a console?

for people that cant afford and awesome gaming rig?

Or lack the brains to build a decent computer themselves that will run every game on the market at medium graphics easily for less that 500 dollars.

Which the current "steam" console is 1000 dollars.
