Finally Broke My Crowdfunding Rule
By oblivion437
Posted on 01/12/15
I've had a long-standing rule to avoid getting involved in any sort of crowdfunded activities.  I didn't donate to Shadowrun or Wasteland, but I did buy and enjoy both of them (I'm plugging both of those games right now, just so you know they're good).  I haven't...

Nintendo Apologizes for Tomodachi Life on Facebook

Posted on Friday, May 9 @ 15:19:12 Eastern by

After much debate over the lack of same-sex relationships in Tomodachi Life, Nintendo has posted a statement on its official Facebook page regarding the entire situation:

We apologize for disappointing many people by failing to include same-sex relationships in Tomodachi Life. Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to change this game’s design, and such a significant development change can’t be accomplished with a post-ship patch. At Nintendo, dedication has always meant going beyond the games to promote a sense of community, and to share a spirit of fun and joy. We are committed to advancing our longtime company values of fun and entertainment for everyone. We pledge that if we create a next installment in the Tomodachi series, we will strive to design a game-play experience from the ground up that is more inclusive, and better represents all players.

All in all, it's what I expected. As I said earlier in my post, I don't think Nintendo should change Tomodachi from how it's been made already. I think Nintendo should just consider opening their representation for different people as it wouldn't be that much more work as long as it's already in the existing design at the conceptual level. A good response, overall.
