LATEST FEATURES Being A Console Is Actually Xbox One's Worst Asset
Microsoft's newest console has lots of different features, but video games might hold the device back from the software giant's true intentions.

Nintendo Extends Eternal Darkness Trademark

Posted on Monday, March 18 @ 10:30:18 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

The Big N has yet again extended its rights to the Eternal Darkness trademark. This marks the fifth time an extension has been granted to Nintendo, and we still have yet to see a proper sequel to the cult-classic that launched on the GameCube over a decade ago.

Silicon Knights has had their hands full thanks to some legal trouble with Epic Games, so it's no surprise that we haven't seen a new entry from them, but considering the studio's underwhelming performance as of late, I think a different dev team would be better suited at this point anyway.

Would you like to see a new Eternal Darkness title? Does the idea of unique tablet functionality have your interest piqued? Let us know in the comments below.

I'd be just fine with a rerelease. I didn't hear about the game until years after its heyday, and it's been impossible for me to find for a decent price anywhere

An HD rerelease is totally more than I could ever hope for of this. Hopefully it'll be announced at E3 with more Gamecube re-ups. There were so many games on that system that people missed.

If it is an HD update, how will it pull off those Insanity-scares? My old analog TV used to have the same exact menu font. Totally got me on the File Deleted stuff too.

Touchpad insanity effects? I'm down. I hooked the GC up a few weeks ago to play GBC games, may have to pop in the ED bagel bite sometime soon.

If they could somehow see the make/model of your TV, then they could easily replicate the menu fonts.

Only problem is that if they do "corrupted save" or something of that nature sanity effects, you'll probably have some angry 13 year old run online right away and start complaining. Then we can point and laugh at them....not much of a problem, now that I'm looking at it.
