On top of this welcomed new addition, Nintendo has added a number of features that will no doubt come in handy when the console is in standby mode, including the ability to auto-downloadand installupdates, as well as received GamePad alerts, all while the system is fast asleep.
For the full rundown on what's new, check outNintendo's comprehensive update guide.
[Original]In addition to revealing a Mario Kart TV app for smart phones, tablets, and computers, Nintendo has given more details on an update to Wii U hardware that will allow users to launch into their favorite games faster than ever before thanks to a new Quick Boot menu.
When you turn on your Wii U GamePad, you'll be presented with a menu screen of your favorite games and applications which you can jump into directly without loading some of the Wii U console's other applications like Miiverse and the gathering of Miis that appear on your TV when you turn on the Wii U console.
The video above shows off the process. The user chooses an application, a user profile, and launches into New Super Mario Bros. U. It seems a lot faster than the current Wii U start-up but we'll know more when Nintendo updates Wii U consoles everywhere this summer.
