Nintendo Slashes Wii Price, Includes Both Wii Sports Titles

Posted on Monday, October 15 @ 12:45:12 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

In case you don't already have Nintendo's motion-heavy toy console and for some odd reason want one this holiday season, you'll be able to purchase a Wii for just $129.99.

The new bundle includes all the regular stuff (console, Wiimote, cables, etc.) plus Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort. This move by Nintendo makes perfect sense in light of the fact that they're launching a new console this November. This package will be made available starting October 28th for all in the US.

“Nearly six years after it launched, people are still attracted to the pure, inclusive fun of the Wii console. A new suggested retail price and the inclusion of two great games make it an easy choice for families looking for a great value this holiday season,” said Nintendo of America's Scott Moffitt.

What do you think? Is $129.99 going to help the Wii sell through the holiday season? Sound off with your thoughts in the comments below.

The Wii has like 4 games worth getting the system for, but if you softmod the thing it's easily the best console out of the three.

It'll sell like hotcakes. Just watch. Those lying statistics will be through the roof.

I keep trying to convince myself to buy another Wii but I just can't. I can count on both hands and feet the amount of games worth playing on this system. I deem this another failure on Nintendo's part along with the GameCube. I think they should just stick to handhelds.

I should clarify, a SOFTWARE failure. No sh!t the consoles sell lot hot cakes because of all the gimmicks that KIDS want, but when it comes down to software, the consoles are failures.

I'll buy a used one when they're about 50$ to play the ~6 games I want for it.
