LATEST FEATURES Being A Console Is Actually Xbox One's Worst Asset
Microsoft's newest console has lots of different features, but video games might hold the device back from the software giant's true intentions.

I wasn't allowed to talk about the new Infinity Ward game last week when I met with Activision, and I don't have much to say now that Xbox One spilled the beans.

No, Really... Bethesda Follows Through on Suing Minecraft Dev over "Scrolls"

Posted on Tuesday, September 27 @ 14:43:10 Eastern by

As previously reported, Minecraft developer Mojang received a letter from Bethesda that it would be suing them over its upcoming game "Scrolls" for infringement. Today, Mojang received the confirmation, with Mojang's Markus Persson stating this on Twitter:

The Scrolls case is going to court!

Daniel Kaplan, Mojang business developer, is preparing to send evidence in its defense. Bethesda claims that Scrolls videos and articles about the game will confuse players, a point which befuddles him:

We are going to do as much as we can, since I really hate it how the big boys always get their own way.

They even took screenshots from our trailer and said we copied them... we have mountains in the Scrolls trailer, and they have that too in Skyrim.

It is really silly believing our game will be confused with their FPS-RPG with realistic graphics. They have dumped everything they could find about Scrolls.

Well, that screws with my new game called Bros.

Eh, not that anyone cares about my opinion, since its frequently not popular, but it doesn't surprise me. It doesn't hurt my opinion of Bethesda either, in my experience the lawyers department and the actual game design are two different entities, and often times, don't get along. Game companies will do everything in their power to boost sales, just like record companies. Chad from Nickelback got in trouble with Roadrunner's lawyers, his label, who refused to give permission to release a single he did with Santana, because it would "Lessen excitement over Nickelback's upcoming single."

Should be disliked for liking nickelback. That's the biggest insult here.

Yes, because ones taste in music (or video games to stay on topic) is a reason to dislike someone. I think I'll dislike my neighbor for something equally trivial, like the color of his curtains.

Sarcasm is the finest form of communication, and no, this comment is sarcastic. Funny, how a comment with Nickelback in it (I never even said I was a fan is the interesting thing), immediately warrents dislikes and whatnot. I was using it as a point of reference that lawyers are stupid, that is all.

I... this.... um.... uh... My brain hurts and my nose is bleeding. I wonder how some lawyers can breathe with their heads so far up their asses. Lawyers for video games should at least have some knowledge of the video game industry and its consumers, Bethesdas guys sound like a bunch of fossils who still use words like thingy, doohickey and whatchamacallit when referring to new technology. Like we'd be tricked by a simple name and mountains in the background of a trailer...

You're saying that gamers only really pirate in large numbers if the game developer deserves it? I didn't know we were that moral :p

Absolutely nothing moral about pirating games, for any reason. Don't ever think theres a reason to pirate a game, I could point to a very good article about piracy.

Getting a game for free might be a reason, getting a game without DRM might be another, punishing evil developers yet another one

Don't like DRM? Don't buy the game. Still want to play it? Buy it with the DRM. Pirating it because of DRM? Just justifying stealing. Is it necessary to steal a game because of DRM? No, because its a luxury item. Can't afford the game? Then suck it up and move on. You aren't stealing bread from a market to feed a hungry family of 4, you're just stealing. No justification. Want to punish an evil developer? Don't buy the game, don't play it either. Point still stands, no reason to pirate games other than to get something for free. I don't care if someones a pirate, nobody is innocent of piracy, I just don't like pirates that like to cover their theft up with pretty excuses and Robin Hood fantasies. Stealing is stealing. Period.

The Grand Ole Opry in a similar lawsuit but lost because:

The term "opry" itself is generic; the Grand Ole Opry (having originated the word) attempted to claim ownership of the word but lost in court.
    (

This is at best a frivolous lawsuit that Bethesda should have no hope of winning.

I think betheseda should grow a pair of balls and take up on the offer of doing a unreal tourment to see who's the victor for good reasons. One of them is that it's a freaking gaming dispute, logically it should be solved with gaming and let the legal matters be put away even if this sounds like some fantasy concept it would also raise the sales of skrym like CRAZY, i mean this would be one of the biggest thing on the internet, let alone all the news people would go ape **** to see something like this, i mean if they did do it it'd be televised maybe even brought into pay per view. Not saying that Elder Scrolls doesn't have enough of a huge fan base but that would sky rocket them, and along with minecraft as far as that's concerned both parties would win from the fame alone. Now the victor of the match would also play a big deal into all of this, but i think it's fair and the conditions set up where fair too, less struggle and annoyance and more of dealing with things the good ole way.

Well, it will be nice if the minecraft dev's get to take a chunk out of bethesda and financially gain from all of this so they can fund more fresh and exciting games.
