GAMING NEWSNo Xbox 360-Exclusive Character for Mortal KombatPosted on Tuesday, April 19 @ 10:36:08 Eastern by Anthony Severino
![]() ...Well, Mortal Kombat creative director, Ed Boon, doesn't really give a definitive reason as to why there isn't a 360-exclusive character (the PS3 version features God of War's Kratos), but does say that it was something the team wanted to do. According to Boon, he's "not allowed to talk much about it" but tries his best to explain without upsetting the powers that be: How mysteriously appropriate. So, there you have it, no 360-exclusive character to be found. However, there's plenty of DLC on the way, a couple of unlockable characters, as well as more goodies "hidden deep within the game". Look for our review of the fighter's return to glory, later this week. [Source] More from the Game Revolution Network Comments

I would have thought that too if it were any other company, but really, Microsoft is all for death and gore. It's pretty much the reason the 360 is so successful, despite the PS3 catching up software-wise.
I think it's probably just because Microsoft said the only way the 360 was getting an exclusive character is if it was DLC, and personally I'm happier with there not being one if it means no day 1 DLC.

lolwut? That doesn't make any sense. Why would the exclusive character HAVE to be DLC? I'm going with Warner Bros and Sony have a long-standing relationship and Sony offered some money to make it exclusive so Netherrealm did what their publisher told them to do. If you ask me WB Games is doing a MUCH better job of managing this IP and the studio than Midway ever did.

It makes perfect sense, since Microsoft has a history of making devs release any extra content that would make sense to come with the game as paid DLC, and many devs have outright dropped minor additions simply so that customers wouldn't have to pay extra. So that's the thing, it WOULDN'T have to be DLC, but that's just the way Microsoft works these days.
Although after reading your explanation it seems much more likely. And I would agree that WB Games is doing a better job. Even in the unlikely event tgat my explanation was correct, I would still have supported a decision not to include a character outright rather than make it DLC.
