GAMING NEWSNotch: Calls EA "Cynical Bastards", But "Twitter Quotes Are NOT NEWS"Posted on Thursday, May 3 @ 09:14:56 Eastern by Nicholas Tan
![]() This is probably better as a manifesto, but posting this as news is much more entertaining. Markus Persson, aka Notch, aka Mojang founder, aka Minecraft game developer, aka "not a boss of anyone", is not happy with how journalists are treating his Tweets, specifically those that blame Electronic Arts for their so-called "indie" business practices: His statements eventually turned into "news" articles... cue outrage: All right there, Notch, just calm down. Breathe. We agree with you. The concept of an EA Indie Bundle is an oxymoron. Ha, ha, we get it. Go indies. We know that Twitter is just about as credible as Wikipedia as a news source, but don't pretend that your Tweets shouldn't be treated as short public statements. You are a public figure in the games industry now. You've got 679,055 followers. You're the founder of an extremely popular video game. Your opinions are news now. That's how it works. If you were still indie, things would be different, but you don't even call Mojang indie anymore. Maybe you didn't want this, but you matter. Or at least a lot of people think you do, and that's what counts. Hopefully, that isn't news to you. More from the Game Revolution Network Comments

Still, can't discount them as being a PART of the gaming sphere, but it's not a saving grace either.
