Online Retailer Lists Majora's Mask 3DS Remake

Posted on Wednesday, August 29 @ 14:00:00 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

Another day, another leak by an online retailer. This time, GAME is the culprit, having listed a 3DS remake for The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask well before an official announcement from Nintendo. The company has since taken down the listing, but not before a member of the Official Nintendo Magazine forums managed to take a screenshot of the page. Busted!

Ever since Ocarina of Time 3D was released, rumors regarding a similar remake for Majora's Mask have been circulating the web, and with Nintendo leading gamers on with the possibility, there's plenty of reason to have hope it will eventually become a reality.

Would you like to see Majora's Mask come to the 3DS, or should Nintendo be focusing their efforts on a completely new Zelda title? Let us know in the comments below.

The only thing I am worried about is Nintendo is just pimping out the 3DS as a bunch of 3D ports of their old games.

Damn, that's a hard one. I would love a new Zelda title, but I don't really want to buy a Wii U specifically for that. I think I would be happy with a Majora's Mask remake on a system I already own instead.

I can take it or leave it. It makes sense as a bookend to Ocarina of Time, but Ocarina of Time has pretty solid extra content with the inclusion of Master Quest. I have trouble thinking what they could add to Majora's Mask to give it the same heft.

But whatever. There's no real reason not to do this.

As long as they keep the glitch from OoT3D where you can use any item anywhere, I'll be perfectly content. Carrying Powder Kegs as Deku Link is funny to watch, and running around as the Fierce Deity wherever you want is just awesome.

That said, a Master Quest mode and Boss Challenge would be welcome again, though it would mean they'd have to make new puzzles for Master Quest. Either that, or they just mirror the game as-is.

Of all the Zelda games this is the only one I never played(I don't count obscure ones) so considering it is hailed by many as the best even above OoT I'll be picking up this port if it actually comes out.

I'd be interested to hear where you've heard Majora's Mask being touted above OoT. I've heard OOT being hailed as one of, if not THE, best game of all time, which is evident by many "top 10/50/100 games of all time" lists found via google. Not to mention OoT's more than double sales vs MM, one of the highest on the n64 (according to wikipedia).

I've never heard until your post that Majoras Mask was better than OoT, let alone being one of the best games of all time (which it would have to be considered if it was better than OoT).

There are quite a few people with that opinion. If you start scratching the surface, you'll find them. Go to any good sized Nintendo forum and conduct a poll. You'll find lots of people with that opinion.

Speaking for myself, Majora's Mask is not on my personal list of best games ever, but I do like it a bit better than Ocarina of Time.

And don't get me wrong, we're all certainly entitled to our opinions. I've just literally never seen the statement you've made in your post.

I don't know exactly where but I know I've read people's opinions that they like MM much better. Story and game play wise. I of course still like OoT the best because I've never played MM. I've heard people have this opinion multiple times though.

Well, this would boost Nintendo sales. I would get it IF I have a Nintendo 3DS.

Following OoT, this game just seemed half-assed to me.
Only 4 dungeons, the treasure in each dungeon is just another type of arrow.

Even from Links point of view, it seemed half-assed.
So, I recently defeated the bandit king, who's also a wizard, and he had attained the power of a god. What's next? Oh, some kid who found a mask? Yeah, I guess I'll fight him or something. Wake me up when Gannon comes back to life.

I like that they tried something original with the 3-day cycle thing, but not enough to save the game for me.

If I'd never played another Zelda game, then MM would probably have seemed really good, but the bar was set really high, and this game didn't make it.
