Microsoft's newest console has lots of different features, but video games might hold the device back from the software giant's true intentions.

Only $4.95 for Over 36 Select EA Games... on Origin
Posted on Saturday, August 6 @ 16:49:12 Eastern by Nicholas Tan
In what can be compared to the Steam Summer Sale, an EA's Origin sale has appeared, reducing 36 titles to only $4.95 via digital download. Will this convince you to use Origin at all?
I find it amusing that the Spore Creature Creator is now the same price as the actual game. Not only that, but at FULL PRICE the creepy and cute pack, which as far as I can tell is just a bunch of doodads, is the same price as the game itself.
I can see at least three no-brainer steam purchases that I won't be making BECAUSE of Origins. EA's proprietary platform is literally preventing me from giving them money.
I started missing out on newer PC titles when Steam first came out, for one reason or another, it has never got along with my computers or accounts, then again, my computer sucks. But I don't really see what all the controversy is with EA's new service, besides the content pulling from other stores. To me this is pretty much a flashback to 8 or 9 years ago.
There's no controversy, most people just think EA is really dumb for having their own digital download service when obviously very few people are going to make the effort of maintaining an account there when they already have Steam. It was one thing back then to have to make a Steam account because you already own all your physical games and can play them whenever. But now, to already an account for literally everything else, and then have EA think they're special enough to make you use an entirely different service for their games alone... well you get the idea.
