Pachter Predicts PS3 Win over 360 This Holiday

Outspoken Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter believes that the PS3 will best the Xbox 360 during the 2011 holiday sales rush. That is unless Microsoft doesn't drop the price of the Xbox 360 soon.

IF Microsoft does nothing, I think PS3 will outsell Xbox 360.

Pachter told IndustryGamers.

However, my friends at Microsoft are extremely proud, and they absolutely refuse to tolerate the possibility that the PS3 will outsell the Xbox 360. I think they have the ads printed for the Xbox 360 price cut, and will drop them on us the instant they see PS3 sales greater than 360 sales.

The Xbox 360 has been trouncing the PS3 in hardware sales month over month here in the US since Kinect released last November. The PS3 has struggled to keep up in the US, despite beating out the 360 in other regions.

Sony announced a price drop for the PS3 earlier this month at gamescom, and the more affordable price point has already made an impact on sales.

Do you think Microsoft will drop the price to keep their momentum? Or will they let Sony gain the upper hand?

    Expected.... but seriously the only thing 360 has going for it this holiday is Gears 3 and absolutely **** Kinect software.

    What about it? Playing Minecraft with a controller would be like trying to chop down a tree with a shovel. Sure, you might eventually get it done, but why bother when you could just use the right tool to begin with.

    I hope they do drop the price soon. Then they'll be one step closer to the $99 price point. That's when I'll buy. Yeah I'm cheap like that.
