PC Market Facing "Longest Duration Of Decline" In Its History

The PC market is experiencing the longest decline in its history.
According to research firm Gartner, PC shipments have plummeted to 76 million worldwide in the second quarter of 2013. This makes for a 10.9% drop when compared to sales numbers from last year. Not only that, but now we've seen a total of five consecutive quarters of decline in PC sales, making it "the longest duration of decline in the PC market’s history."
Gartner analyst Mikako Kitagawa believes that this is due to the rising interest in tablets. "In emerging markets, inexpensive tablets have become the first computing device for many people, who at best are deferring the purchase of a PC."
What do you think? Are PCs on their way out as far as the mainstream consumer is concerned? Could Valve's upcoming Steam Box put a deeper dent in the PC market? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
