Pikmin 3 Confirmed To Be Unveiled At E3

Posted on Tuesday, April 17 @ 15:42:17 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

Could it be? Could Nintendo actually be developing titles with its hardcore audience in mind? We heard yesterday that a Mario title for the Wii U would be shown at E3, and now the Big N has confirmed that Captian Olimar and his trusty pack of Pikmin will be making an appearance at the expo as well.

That's right, Pikmin 3 will officially be unveiled this June.

Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed the game's upcoming reveal during an interview with Spanish news outlet El Mundo. Kotaku did a followup with Nintendo to confirm the news, to which the company replied, "In a recent interview, Mr. Miyamoto confirmed that a new Pikmin game will be show at the E3 Expo in June. He believes that anyone who has played Pikmin games in the past will enjoy playing."

We've known that a third Pikmin title has been in the works over at Nintendo for quite some time now, but all this waiting has left fans jaded. Nintendo fans have been asking for another Pikmin title ever since the sequl launched back on the GameCube some several years ago. For whatever reason, we never saw a proper followup ever come to the WIi, due likely in part to Nintendo's preoccupation in catering to the casual market with titles like Wii Fit, Wii Sports, Wii Music, Wii Play... need I go on?

While we've heard some pretty nasty rumors floating around as of late regarding the Wii U's underpowered hardware, a solid lineup of first-party titles would definitely be a great way change the hearts of skeptical gamers. After all, it's about the games, not the hardware, right?
