Play As a Bounty Hunter In New, Mature-Themed Star Wars 1313

Posted on Friday, June 1 @ 05:40:13 Eastern by

Who even needs E3 anymore? All of the biggest and best games seem to be revealed before the big event. And before I can even make my appointment on Thursday for Star Wars 1313, the game has already been announced officially by LucasArts.

The game is named after 'Level 13', a "a ruthless criminal underground deep below the surface of the planet of Coruscant". Rather than taking the role of a Force-powered Jedi or Sith, you play as a Bounty Hunter using exotic weapony, and human skills and gadgets.

Star Wars 1313 is said to be much more "dark" and "mature" than past Star Wars games and movies... I love this. Maybe Nick will finally get to murder JarJar Binks in cold blood.

I'll believe it when I see a rated M on the box (which Lucas would never allow to happen) I seen it rated T at best/wost.

Short of excluding foul language, sexual situations, and drug use, a T rating should work fine. The Star Wars universe, even at its most violent, can be considered fluffy. Weapons that cauterize, producing no blood, no gore. People take a laser bolt and die or vaporize, not lie there with a gaping hole in the chest.

The T rating would give them enough room to maneuver, and still consider the game mature.

Just saw this on Twitter via Kotaku: Star Wars 1313 has a provisional PEGI 18 rating, basically the EU equivalent of an M. (via @michael_french)

I don't get it. This should be an announcement of Battlefront III, not some bounty hunter game.

So somehow, the announcement of a new star wars game franchise should have been a game for an old star wars game franchise?

I sense much promise in this one, but its future is shrouded in darkness.

As much as I would love Battlefront 3 or Republic Commando 2, this could be good. Especially since it doesn't focus on Jedi crap. Fuck the Jedi. Fuck the Sith.

I would have killed for Republic Commando 2, sadly George Luca$ retconned the whole starwars universe for his saturday morning cartoon, nuking good 40-50% of the expanded universe including ALL the back story for the Republic Commando. That in turn got the writter (Kareen Trawis) behind it to quit writting Star Wars universe...

The Jango Fett "Bounty Hunter" for Gamecube was awesome, if this is anything like that I'll be happy.
