PlayStation 3 Outsells Xbox 360 In US For The First Time In Nearly Three Years

Posted on Friday, October 18 @ 07:22:05 PST by Alex_Osborn

For the first time in nearly three years, PlayStation 3 has managed to outsell Xbox 360 in the United States.

The news comes from NPD, who's reporting that while Microsoft's box has been leading the charge as the best selling console for the past 32 months—right behind Nintendo's super popular handheld, the 3DS—the PlayStation 3 has finally overtaken the Xbox 360.

Geoff Keighley of GameTrailers shared the news on Twitter, saying, "PS3 was #1 selling console in September, breaking 32-month winning steak by Xbox 360. GTA bundle helped."

It looks like a lot of gamers stateside are finally getting in the PlayStation spirit. Something tells me the impending launch of PS4 has something to do with it.
