PlayStation Vita Firmware 1.6 Arriving This Week

Posted on Monday, February 6 @ 07:40:42 Eastern by

It's still not even out yet here in the States, and already the PlayStation Vita has received a few firmware updates. The newest update, version 1.6, arrives this week and brings with it a handful of new features.

The update will add a new map application that uses Google Maps for everything from directions to standard satillite imagery. The update also enables video recording for PlayStation Vita's built-in camera, and makes the Vita's home button flash blue to indicate the system is charging.

Support for Mac is being added for the PlayStation Vita's Content Manager, which up until now was only compatible with Windows PCs.

Lastly, the update will change all mentions of the PlayStation Network to Sony Entertainment Network.

The firmware update is expected on February 8th.
