GAMING NEWSPlayStation Vita First Week SalesPosted on Wednesday, December 21 @ 07:37:35 Eastern by Anthony Severino
![]() The PlayStation Vita launched this past Saturday in The Land of the Rising Sun. Famitsu's parent company Enterbrain has revealed how the PlayStation Vita performed in the region's launch, showing the PlayStation Vita to have sold 321,000 units. Having launched on a Saturday, this only allows for two days of availablity at retail. But the Vita still performed very well. However, it was not enough to best the 3DS' launch figures. By comparison, the 3DS managed to sell 370,000 units during the same two day time frame in Japan. Sony's first attempt at a portable system, the PSP, sold 165,000 on its first day on sale. While the numbers are indeed strong for the PlayStation Vita, it still has a long way to go to catch up with the 3DS. Many are skeptical given the saturation of smartphones that the PlayStation Vita will ever reach the PSP's 70 million+ units sold. More from the Game Revolution Network Comments
