Microsoft's newest console has lots of different features, but video games might hold the device back from the software giant's true intentions.

Pokémon X And Y Announced, Coming This October

Posted on Tuesday, January 8 @ 04:51:58 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

After providing Nintendo DS owners with Black 2 and White 2 last year, The Pokémon Company is finally bringing the popular creature collecting experience to the 3DS. As is typical with the series, the game will launch with two different versions, this time in the form of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y.

Both versions will see a simultaneous worldwide release this October. Tthe reason for this is that it "allows players to begin their adventures at the same time," says The Pokémon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara, "Now Pokémon fans across the globe can discover the secrets of Pokémon games and can collect, battle, and trade with each other immediately."

Junichi Masuda, the series director, also expressed his excitement for Pokémon X and Y

We brought Pokémon into an entirely new dimension and we’re incredibly excited to bring Pokémon X and Pokémon Y  to fans. The stunning visuals, a completely redesigned environment, game scenario, music, and communication features will bring smiles to the faces of video game players around the world.

If you haven't already done so, be sure to give the announcement trailer that aired during this morning's Nintendo Direct a look. It gives you an early glimpse at the new world, the three new starting Pokémon (Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie), and the gorgeous new visual style.

So, who's hyped for more Pokémon later this year? I think I'm going to have to buy a 3DS XL now...

Agreed. I hate when they make them talk. THEY CAN'T F***ING TALK. THEY'RE ANIMALS.

I'll most likely be picking this up but maybe not on release date. I want to upgrade to a 3dsxl first I think.

Everyone should upgrade to the XL. It's 10 dimensions better than the regular 3DS imo.

I might give this game a try. I haven't played Pokemon since Emerald. People finally have a 3D Pokemon adventure game, but prepare for everyone to ***** that this one does not count because it's not on a console.

I've played many of the games but I haven't enjoyed a Pokemon title since the original Red and Blue. I hope this ends that streak.

Ditto. These games may be what Sonic Generations did for me for the Sonic series.

I'm strangely excited for this. I played a very little bit of Pokemon after the original Blue and Red, but never logged more than ten hours of whatever installment it was. This, however, looks like something I could really get into.

I've tried every entry and reviewed a few but Red and Blue captured and retained the childlike wonder Pokemon prays on. I agree, hopefully the increased visual depth and animations make X&Y a more entertaining sequel.

Because then they would have to make the game look like it's from 2013 instead of 1999. Also, there are a lot of gameplay features that kind of bank on a portable system (trading, battling, catching certain Pokemon at different times of day and days of the week, etc).

Awesome. I have been playing Pokemon since i was a kid, got out of it for a while, but back in High school got back into it with Diamond. Got a bit bored of Black 2 though. These ones look great though.

I once read an adult who likes Pokemon is an indicator of a pedophile. If so, watch your children because I love Pokemon and am giddy like a (attractive) school girl for this.

Disclaimer: I am not actually a pedophile.

I love Pokemon and have played a lot of hours, but I HATE kids and do not want to be arounnd them (That's one reason why I don't play COD).

2013 is looking rough for Vita in Japan.
They gotta compete with Monster Hunter 4, Shin Megami Tensei 4, Fantasy Life (just released at end of December), Dragon Quest VII remake, Friend Collection 2 (sequel to a DS game that sold 3.5 million units), and now THIS too. Wow.

Vita brings...what, exactly, to this fight? Soul Sacrifice?
Oh and Phantasy Star Online 2, that it shares with iOS and PC?
The Final Fantasy X port probably won't even be out until 2014 -- the one that could help the system the most.

While that would be fun something like that would ensure I stay here longer... Not necessarily working...
