PS2 Still Pwning 360 In Japan

Posted on Monday, April 11 @ 15:09:24 Eastern by Blake_Morse
Remember back in March when we reported that the PS2 was kicking the Xbox 360's ass in sales in Japan? Yup. That's still happening. Although it's not so much that Microsoft is getting beat down, they've just never really been too popular in the land of the rising sun and sales are just going back to normal after a boost from the release of the 360 Slim model. As of the week ending April 3rd, 2011, 360 sales were back where they used to be and for some odd reason, the PS2 had gotten a boost. Of course, that means more pie charts for you! (Mmmmmm...Pie charts...)

As you can see, Nintendo dominated overall, thanks in no small part to the brand new 3DS. But the important thing here is that you notice how very teeny tiny the Microsoft slice of pie is. That's barely a morsel by pie standards.

This could have something to do with the recent earthquakes and tsunamis affecting the country, as I'm sure people are trying to put their lives back together and having an escape like video games would be a serious help. But without being an expert on charts and economics, let's just play the safe route and take the fan boy stance of "Playstation is, like, hellsa better than the 360!". Just pretend I said that with a mouth full of cheetos and leave it at that.

At any rate, way to go PS2! You're still profitable after over a decade!
