PS3 Sales Reach 30 Million In PAL Regions

Posted on Wednesday, December 19 @ 15:34:02 Eastern by Alex_Osborn
While the Xbox 360 may be king in North America, a large portion of the rest of the world prefers the PlayStation 3. In fact, SCEE announced earlier today that Sony's HD console has sold a whopping 30 million units in Europe and PAL territories.

Jim Ryan, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe's CEO, shared the news, saying:
This is a major milestone for us and clearly shows just how popular the PlayStation brand and products are within Europe and the PAL territories. We are really pleased with the success of the PS3 system over the last six years, and are committed to continuing our support of the platform with high quality products and titles that are of the caliber that PlayStation fans have come to expect.
With total worldwide sales around 70 million, this means that nearly half of all the console's sales can be attributed to purchases in this region. So while Sony's situation in North America may not look all too promising, over in Europe it is quite a different story.

I was surprised when I read that Sony hadn't even sold 10,000,000 in Japan. I thought they dominated that market, but then I remember Nintendo. I was only thinking about PS3 and 360. What does that say about me?

If they didnt cost so much from the start & maybe came out a year earlier hopefully they dont make the same mistake on the PS4.
