PS4/Vita Remote Play Expected To Be Available At Launch

Posted on Thursday, February 21 @ 11:36:50 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

Sony breathed new life and exciting possibilities into the Vita with a single announcement: Gamers will be able to stream PS4 games to their handheld device.

The company has teased us with promises like this before, only to under deliver. Apparently that won't be the case this time around, as you can expect PS4/Vita Remote Play to work the day the console launches. When asked by IGN about the functionality, Shuhei Yoshida of Sony's  Worldwide Studios replied: “I will be heartbroken if it doesn’t [work] day one. So day one, my expectation… we have to have all [PS4] games work on PS Vita, unless it’s a camera-only game.”

So Sony "expects" the functionality to be available right out of the gate. Let's hope that Mr. Yoshida's words prove true this holiday season when PS4s hit store shelves.

Haven't they "expected" and failed to ship Remote Play before? Don't bank your preorder on this feature...

It's ANNOUNCED to be expected, but I'd be surprised if anyone actually expects this.

Wouldn't this devour the already limited and overpriced memory sticks the Vita uses?

I'm going to assume that it will be done with streaming... having no affect on the memory card... that's why Sony bought Gaiki isn't it?
