RAGE At These PC Specs

Posted on Wednesday, September 7 @ 11:39:35 Eastern by

Hey, you! Are you one of those people who couldn't stand to play Doom 3 on the Xbox? I mean, it was fine, aside from the whole flashlight thing. Of course, if you were playing the PC version you could have used a flashlight mod to fix that. What small annoyances will PC gamers be able to fix in RAGE?

If you're hoping to avoid your own flashlight catastrophe, you'll need to know if your computer is up to id Software's qualifications:
  • Minimum:
    • OS: Windows XP SP3, Vista, Windows 7
    • Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo or Equivalent AMD
    • Memory: 2 GB
    • Hard Disc Space: 25 GB
    • Video Card: GeForce 8800, Radeon HD 4200
  • Recommended:
    • OS: Windows XP SP3, Vista, Windows 7
    • Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad or Equivalent AMD
    • Memory: 4 GB
    • Hard Disc Space: 25 GB
    • Video Card: GeForce 9800 GTX, ATI Radeon HD 5550
Well, are you up to snuff or do you need to start looking at upgrades?

That's because this POS is still using DX 9 crap. So of coarse its going to not need much to run in today's market. What they need to do is make consoles with hot swap expansion slots for the ram CPU and GPU so instead of buying a console upgrade every 6 years they can release hardware upgrades for nowhere near the cost I bet every few years to keep up with current software and hardware technology.

Or better yet they should be looking at AMD"s new APU which is basically a CPU and GPU on the same chip and uses the system's memory as both the computer ram and the video ram. Cutting the need for a dedicated graphics chip out all together.

No they aren’t very demanding PC specs. I think it’s because this is a multiplatform game and not just a PC only game.

that has nothing to do with it. Its a DX 9 coded game with fancy things laid over it. But its still DX9 so it doesn't take a lot to run that kind of game anymore. For reference we are in DX 11 now and DX 12 is coming with windows 8 I belv.

Doesn’t it? I thought that the Xbox 360 and the PS3 could only handle DX 9, thus the reason it is coded for DX9.
