LATEST FEATURES Being A Console Is Actually Xbox One's Worst Asset
Microsoft's newest console has lots of different features, but video games might hold the device back from the software giant's true intentions.

RAGE HD Goes Free in the App Store and on iOS Devices

Posted on Saturday, August 20 @ 17:30:00 Eastern by

id Software is the master of first-person shooting. Having practically invented, certainly popularized, the genre on the PC decades ago, id is ready to bring its brand of putting "caps" the in gluteus maximus of countless enemies back to the forefront. Of course, what modern, high-profile release would be complete without some sort of exposition across multiple platforms. Whatever it takes to give players the taste they need to buy the game, preferably new.

With RAGE set to release at the start of October, Bethesda and id have seen fit to let RAGE and RAGE HD go free in the iTunes App Store... What?

RAGE HD is a rail shooter set in id's wasteland gameshow: Mutant Bash TV. Players can take to their respective iOS devices to blast mutants across a handful of different levels. You can switch between three different weapons, including the pistol, assault rifle, and shotgun. You can also dodge enemy attacks, pick up money, ammo, and health bonuses, or tag targets for bonus points. The diminutive cousin of the upcoming FPS game also allows for a ton of different control inputs, include tilt, gyroscope, touch, and... I don't know you could try yelling at it but I don't know how you'll do in the game.

The best part about RAGE HD? It's now free on iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. Even if you don't plan on playing the game right, it's always a good idea to download now so you won't have to pay later.

I yell at my games all the time.

    Thanks for the platform info.

I would have to actually pay for one of those horribly overpriced and underpowered devices to play it though. Let me know when it hits the Android market.

I paid 99 cents for it awhile back and the game is pretty lackluster. I wouldn't waste my time on it.
