Microsoft's newest console has lots of different features, but video games might hold the device back from the software giant's true intentions.

Rayman Legends Delayed, Will Miss Wii U Launch

Posted on Monday, October 8 @ 08:53:34 Eastern by

So it begins. The seemingly massive launch list of the Wii U has already begun to dwindle, as it does with every new console launch lineup. Sadly, the first casualty is the Wii U title I was most looking forward to: Rayman Legends.

While Ubisoft never explicity said it would be a Wii U launch title, it was always expected to be so. However, this morning, Ubisoft revealed that Rayman Legends would be releasing in an already jam-packed Q1 2013, stating that they're "taking time to make sure we deliver a game that lives up to and hopefully exceeds their expectations."

After playing it at E3, I was convinced that Rayman Legends would give "Mario a run for his coins." Read my preview of Rayman Legends

I have a feeling they're just trying to avoid competing against New Super Mario Bros. U.

This is a big hit to the launch line up, but it ultimately won't change anything for the average consumer. And whether or not they're making way for Mario, I think they still could have generated decent sales just being next to the system on launch day.
