Report: PlayStation 4 Ships This November

Posted on Tuesday, February 19 @ 15:20:00 Eastern by

Of all the months to expect Sony's PlayStation 4 to launch, November certainly seems the most likely. New consoles have typically launched in the Fall, and notably November, which means this rumor is firmly in the "no, duh" category.

Sony's current home console, the PlayStation 3, launched on November 11th, 2006 at $599 and $499. However, the source of today's report told Kotaku that two models are planned and that pricing has yet to be determined for the next-generation PlayStation 4.

The source continues to say that the your PS4 will be connected to your smartphone, computer, or tablet and that community features, chat and more will be available across all of your devices, but at this point, it's safe to wait and see what's real and what's myth about the PlayStation 4 in tomorrow's presentation.

Don't forget to join GameRevolution's live blog where we'll be promoting your reactions to the PlayStation Meeting in real time. What's more, you can watch the conference on GameRevolution tomorrow when it starts at 6 PM EST. Our liveblog will start at 5:30 EST, so why don't you join us in more rampant speculation?

PlayStation is already playing nice with the Android platform, so you're likely OK on that front.

Nothing about the rumor that "most" online features will no longer be free?

We're still debating that, but you'll see coverage either overnight or as it happens. This "rumor" is more of a slamdunk. We've been covering a ton of PS4 stuff, but as we get closer it's time to be more selective. :P

Launches with a new network feature that automatically downloads every new game & charges your credit card unless you specifically opt out for each game.

    ...You said rampant speculation, right?

I think that the Vita will be able to act as a controller like the Wii U and to be able to stream your PS4 games to it when out and about.

I don't care when this new console drops. W/o any confirmed games, I wont be picking one up at all. It could connect to my phone, computer, ipad, my toilet, it wont matter. W/o any good games to play on this new console, I don't see myself getting one. Also knowing that I will have to pay a hefty price, the games need to be big names for me to even consider buying one.

Having bought the Vita, 3DS, and Wii U with only one game I really wanted to play, I have to agree with you here. I could care less about new hardware without a game to play.

Connect to the toilet? Now there's a brilliant idea friend.
