Capcom just sent over an official press release officially making Resident Evil's official sequel official.... official Resident Evil 6 official, official.
SO YEAH, Resident Evil 6 is coming to Xbox 360 and PS3 on November 20th, 2012 with a PC version to come later. Set 10 years since the Raccoon City incident, Resident Evil 6 puts Leon S Kennedy and Chris Redfield together for the first time:
The President of the United States has decided to reveal the truth behind what took place in the belief that it will curb the current resurgence in bioterrorist activity. Due to be by the President's side is his personal friend and Raccoon City survivor, Leon S. Kennedy, but when the venue suffers a bioterrorist attack, Leon is force to face a President transformed beyond recognition and make his hardest ever decision. At the same time, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield arrives in China, itself under threat of a bioterrorist attack. With no country safe from these attacks and the ensuing outbreaks, the entire world's population is united by a common fear and there is no hope left.
Ahhhh, get it?! Like the whole viral campaign they have going on?! Katsuhiko Ichii, Head of R&D and Global Marketing has said:
Resident Evil 6 represents a giant stride forward in the evolution of the series. The development team, led by Hiroyuki Kobayashi, is working tirelessly to deliver the most impressive Resident Evil title ever both in terms of scope and production values. We are all genuinely excited by the title and cannot wait to share it with the world.
Nick Tan will be at Capcom's Fright Night later this evening and hopefully scaring up some further details.
I hope Leon and Chris don't share too much screen time in the same scenes together. I don't think I want to watch Leon accidentally buff out into a hulking beast from catching a whiff of Chris's steroid breath.
Even worse than that, it's probably a sidekick who will steal all your ammo and waste all your herbs. No good can come from a new RE game, since it will probably be just like RE5, and RE5 was garbage.
You know I always hoped the moves would adapt the same quality as the games but it seems like it's the other way around....
I think I'll just give up hope now that this will have more suspense and less action. Hell, I'd be happy if Leon's story was more based in suspense and Chris' action...Or vice versa. Oh well. We potentially get Call of Evil Modern Hazard...I shouldn't complain. I still enjoyed 5.
RE5 was a good game thanks to the multiplayer aspect, but, once you beat it, it really wasn't worth playing through again. I'm hoping we get a Massive Multiplayer Online RE game with 24/7 real world zombies and drop in/drop out functionality. I want to have an RE game that isn't scripted where I can explore and find ammo, survive and join up with friends to fight the hoards. LEFT 4 DEAD was a good try, but I want something more dynamic where Over 100 people can be on at the same time.
One brisk August day in 1992, a former amusement park manufacturer turned game publisher rolled a brand new cabinet into video arcades across America. It was a two-player black upright, bound with bright red bordering and sporting a generic combat graphic emblazoned on the wood siding. As commercial electricity coursed through the cabinet’s wiring for the first time, a cathode ray tube began firing electrons one line at a time against a fluorescent screen, painting a pixilated logo into... read more...
