Microsoft's newest console has lots of different features, but video games might hold the device back from the software giant's true intentions.

Rumor: Halo 2 HD Remake In The Works At 343i

Posted on Tuesday, July 10 @ 09:12:53 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

According to a rumor from the latest issue of the Official Xbox Magazine UK, it appears that Bungie's beloved followup to Halo: Combat Evolved may be getting a similar Anniversary Edition. The rumor reads: "Following the success of remake Halo Anniversary, 343 Industries has now started development of Halo 2 Anniversary.”

If this proves to be true, and the game is in fact another anniversary title, it would have to launch in 2014 to make it a full ten years since the release of Halo 2, at which point you'd think the successor to the Xbox 360 would be out. Perhaps we'll see a next-gen version of Halo 2 with even slicker graphics than expected? Count me in!

IGN reached out to Microsoft for confirmation, but only received the predictable response: "Our focus right now is on developing Halo 4. Beyond that, we do not comment on rumors or speculation.”

Let us know whether or not you'd be up for a Halo 2 remake in the comments below.

I was speculating about this too. What 343 Industries did to the anniversary of Halo is awesome. I love comparing and contrasting what Halo looked like then and now. Imagine what it's going to look like for Halo 2 getting the same features.

So, my childhood was awesome knowing that's Lockout? Also, it shouldn't be "childhood," because that was an M rated game

I haven't played Halo 2 in years, but I remember not liking the campaign at all, the only good thing about the game was the online multiplayer, the great maps and dual wielding. I remember very little about the campaign of Halo 2 other than dual wielding for the first time, the battle rifle being introduced, being forced to play as the Arbiter and that it wasn't even close to as good as Halo 1's campaign. So I don't see the point of an HD remake, bad game if I remember right, I regularly play Halo 1, Halo 3, hell even Halo ODST, but I never play Halo 2 anymore.

Are you serious? Halo 2 was the best out of all three of the series. Halo 3: ODST doesn't count.

I agree with Ugh, Halo 2 was deffinately one of Bungie's better games in the series. If the servers were still up for I would probably be playing that over Reach.
