Rumor: Next Assassin's Creed To Feature Brazil Setting

Posted on Monday, December 10 @ 08:13:11 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

Those hoping for another game set during the early days of the United States will likely be disappointed, as a new report indicates that the next Assassin's Creed could very well be set in Brazil.

The managing director of Ubisoft Brazil, Bertrand Chaverot, told Techtudo (via GameSpot) that gamers will be taking a trip down to the South American country of Brazil for at least part of the game. Beyond that tidbit of information, Chaverot didn't have anything else to share.

There is however, a good chance that this all could be one big misunderstanding, as there was a mission in Assassin's Creed III that was set in Brazil. Perhaps something was lost in translation?

Either way, we'd like to hear what you think about this potential setting. Do you like the idea of running across rooftops in Brazil? Let us know in the comments below.

1860s Japan, toward the end of the Samurai era... That's what I want, even if they think it is a terrible idea.

    I agree, that'd be a great setting.

If they present it right, instead of being OMFG NINJAS, it could be a thoughtful look at a dying culture, like RDR was with the old west.

That's kinda why I want it in that era, not the ninjas. I think an AC game set amidst the conflict and tension as the Samurai era ended would be awesome.

I think if they stick with Connor for another game, they pretty much have to do the French Revolution. Victorian England could still be fun - or pre WWI Europe?

Gotham City with a few missions in Metropolis. Or AC IX: Brotherhood of the Moon Ancients.

Brazil? I remember the original setting for AC3 was supposed to be Egypt with a female protagonist. I guess that got scrapped early. For all we know it may be set in WWII or Australia fighting the evil kangaroo templars.

After ACIII, I'm not really looking forward to a new game. Now that Desmond's story is over, I'm not really as interested as I was. Having the the games come out year after year has a lot to do with it. I love the series, but I'm getting a bit burnt out on them. It didn't help that the Desmond storyline ended in such a lame way.

If the next game isn't finally in a modern setting, I'm done. I'm selling my computer and moving to Africa. I don't even play Assassin's Creed but COME ON UBISOFT.

I harbor a personal preference for World War I, specifically Bolshevik Revolution Russia. Although I suppose you have the awkward question of what to do about automatic weapons in a game revolving around a melee combat system.
