Rumor: Racers From Sony And Microsoft To Launch With Next-Gen, New Guerrilla Games Title To Debut This Month

Posted on Wednesday, February 6 @ 11:59:39 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

It looks like Sony may have more than just hardware to show off at PlayStation Meeting 2013, as a new project from Guerrilla Games is rumored to be in attendance as well.

STFUandPlay claims that the new and improved Evolution Studios has a PS4 racing game in the works, and it will be ready for launch alongside Sony's next-gen gaming machine. With developing talent like Ged Talbot at the helm, there's plenty of reason to be excited. Apparently they're going for more of a PGR-inspired experience.

On the Microsoft side of things, the outlet goes on to add that the former Bizarre and Criterion guys who went on to form Lucid Games are working on Project Gotham Racing 5 for the next-generation Xbox. Like Sony's racer, apparently this too, will be out in time for launch.

Mind you, these are merely rumors, so keep that it mind. Nothing is for certain until we receive confirmation from Microsoft and Sony. Hopefully we won't have too long to wait.

I hope there are going to be bomb racing games at launch. Racing has a lot of replayability, but get repetitive if done wrong. Fingers crossed

This makes absolute sense. A racing game shouldn't take as much effort to do well (you don't need story writers). Racing games are also a genre where "oohhh shiny" is expected so it would give both companies an opportunity to show off polygon counts and frame rates.

Outside of Mario Kart, racing games suck.

I'm thinking the Durango might also launch with Forza 5. Turn 10 didn't really make Horizon, so basically they'll have had 2 years to work on it if the Durango launches Octoberish. Maybe a month later or something.
