Rumor: Ubisoft Considering Co-Op Assassin's Creed For Release Next Year

Posted on Thursday, November 29 @ 07:59:35 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

The Assassin's Creed franchise is undoubtedly Ubisoft's most valuable property, so it should come as no surprise to hear reports that the publisher is already gearing up for the next game. According to an alleged survey, we may be getting another AC game as soon as next year, complete with co-op.

According to The Gaming Liberty, a survey from Ubisoft is trying to gauge whether or not gamers are interested in playing another game in the series next year. Interestingly enough, another question asks users to rate how much they enjoyed Uncharted 3. Could they be planning on taking a few pages out of Naughty Dog's book?

Finally, the alleged survey asks whether or not a drop-in/drop-out co-op feature would be something gamers would like in the next Assassin's Creed. Just think of the possibilities!

How would you answer these three questions? Would you like to see another title in 2013? Should the game be more cinematic like Uncharted? Would you embrace AC co-op? Let us know in the comments below.

As long as they move on to new characters and time periods, that's fine with me.

If the quality and time periods are as good as the rest of the series i am fine. Co-op sounds neat. I have a feeling we are going to see Connor again, could see his co-op partner being Aveline from AC Liberation.

In all honesty, no. The Assassin's Creed series already has a fun and interesting multiplayer component. In my opinion, introducing co-op into the single player campaign would do nothing but detract from the excellent single player experience they have been providing. Part of the appeal of single player games, to me at least, is the ability to pop the game in and get lost in a new world and story; not booting it up and getting stuck at a certain level or boss that pretty much requires two people (as they would certainly have to incorporate to make the co-op not seem like a cheap gimmick) and having to either a) hope to find someone competent/not annoying or b) deal with sub-par a.i. assistance. If I want to play with other people, I'll play the multiplayer (or reactivate my WoW account); I prefer to leave the single player campaign to, well, SINGLE PLAYERS! /Grumpy old man rant over.
