Rumor: Ubisoft Interested In Bidding On THQ Studios And Franchises

Posted on Friday, December 21 @ 07:18:25 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

Ubisoft is looking to purchase THQ's stable of studios and intellectual properties, if current chatter on the interwebs proves to be true.

Alleged inside sources told MCV that Ubi is looking to pick up a sizable chunk of the publisher's development teams and franchises, including Darksiders, Company of Heroes, Red FactionSaint’s Row, Homefront, and WWE. The publishers are supposedly negotiating right now, but Ubisoft apparently wants to hold out until they can get THQ's assets on the cheap.

Mind you, this is all just rumor right now, as both Ubisoft and THQ have not offered any sort of official statement. As such, keep it locked to GameRevolution for future updates on this potential purchase.

It would be really cool if they styled Homefront after R6: Vegas. But then again, it would probably just end up being a GRAW game with a now-cliched story. Fuckin' Hollywood.

I believe Crytek is working on the Homefront sequel, so that should be interesting...

I knew that. I Googled it after reading something about Crytek thinking about putting a bid on some THQ IP's. I believe I read that right here, on GR.

I'd love to see what Ubi could do with Red Faction.
