Rumor: Versus XIII No Longer a PlayStation Exclusive, To Be Rebranded Final Fantasy XV

Posted on Thursday, May 31 @ 14:17:03 Eastern by Alex_Osborn
Aside from a Final Fantasy VII remake - which will never happen guys, just give it up - Final Fantasy Versus XIII has got to be one of the cruelest jokes from Square Enix we've ever seen. After announcing the game back in 2006, Square has failed to provide its fan base with any substantial footage.

Now, some six years later, it looks like Square may be renaming the game Final Fantasy XV because, let's face it, the FFXIII brand will be ancient by the time this game sees the light of day. According to MCV, the leaked video below was taken from Square Enix's pre-E3 press briefing, where the company allegedly announced the rebranding as well as the fact that the game will no longer be a PlayStation exclusive.

Now before all of you Sony fanboys start freaking out, don't worry, there was no mention of an Xbox 360 version, so you can still hold this over all of the Xbots. That said, the report does indicate that FFXV will be arriving on the Wii U in addition to the PS3. As far as I'm concerned, this game is incapable of being exclusive to any platform until we get some actual footage of extended gameplay.

The game was released in what could kindly be called an Alpha state. There were so many things wrong with it at launch, that it was damn near unplayable. SE's inept handling of the game never gave it a chance in hell of being successful. The only thing they got right was the graphics, but even then, it was resource hog.

lol is this game ever gonna come out. Kind of funny its being rebranded and put on the Wii U possibly though.

They really just need to make the FF7 Remake even though they never will. It would be guaranteed to sell millions of copies.

This video is a bunch of college kids in an auditorium. The announcer is an American guy trying to speak with a Japanese accent and failing at it. (There's a reason you can't see his face.)

    Definite fake.

oh god no. i'm only new to the series so i don't have much right to complain but i really hope they aren't going to make the next main entry a very modern day/earth-like game. the reason i like the FF's i've played is because they're futuristic and everything is wildly different and more fantastical than real life, if i wanted to play something that was set in the real world i'd play any american game (which im bored of)

I remember a time when a new FF game got me excited. Sadly, those days have passed. Ever since Squaresoft became Square Enix, they've gone downhill in a fairly steady decline. At this point, I wouldn't even buy a used copy of one of the new FF games.

I read this in the Youtube comments: "It's fake. The footage is taken from the January 2011 trailer, the TBA CERO rating logo is wrong, and Square confirmed a while back that they wouldn't be showing the game at E3 this year. Most likely TGS instead - you know, the actual Tokyo Game Show?"

The only other thing I wanna say is... **** you Square!
