Rumor: Wii Mini Console Reportedly Launching Next Month

Posted on Monday, November 26 @ 08:03:53 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

Not too long ago, the Wii received a redesign of sorts when Nintendo decided to release a slightly more dumbed-down version of the system that did not include GameCube controller ports. It looks like this December, however, we may be seeing a much more drastic revision of the hardware, as a new report from NintendoWorldReport suggests that the Big N is planning to launch the "Wii Mini" next month.

According to the outlet, an unnamed "major retailer" shared with them the following listing:

Introducing the Wii Mini! Coming Dec 7 2012! WII MINI CONSOLE Compact Nintendo Wii Console Comes with Sensor Bar, Nunchuk and Wii Remote Plus with Jacket.

Nintendo has yet to confirm the validity of this report, so we'll have to treat is as rumor for the time being. In the meantime, let us know in the comments below whether or not a smaller version of Nintendo's motion-heavy console has you interested.

I agree in that sense. It's already so tiny. It's probably just a way to reduce manufacturing costs to increase profit, while making it seem "newish" again and get some sales.

This worked wonders for the PS2. Especially because of the size, it allows for adding a console to a child's room.

If this is true it will only interfere with the Wii U launch.

How would it though? It's not like the GC version of Twilight Princess stopped the sales of the Wii version.
