Microsoft's newest console has lots of different features, but video games might hold the device back from the software giant's true intentions.

RUMOR: XBLA Games Getting Raise On Achievement Cap?

Posted on Monday, March 12 @ 09:11:59 Eastern by Keri_Honea

Remember what I said about unnamed sources spreading rumors? Are you ready for another one?

This time, an anonymous source from Xbox360Achievements.org has said that a new policy "could" (emphasis on the could, mind you) go into effect on June 1, 2012 to raise the cap on Achievements for XBLA games and DLC.

The current cap on XBLA games for Achievement points is 200. The source has said that the cap would be raised to 400, thereby allowing 30 possible Achievements instead of 20. The DLC for XBLA games could add up to 100 Gamerscore points, with eight new Achievements per DLC, and one DLC release allowed per quarter.

For those who like raising their Gamescore, this should definitely make you a little happy. As for me, all I can think is, aw crap...now I'll have to spend more time on this game I really, really like to get all the Achievements!

If this is true and not a rumor, we should heard something more definite soon.

Meanwhile, on PSN, you can have as many trophies as you want.

Not to mention that Trophies>Achievements, since you could have 10k gamersocre, all from super easy low GS Achievements, but with trophies you can actually see if someones just hoarded bronze trophies.
