Sam Raimi No Longer Working On World of Warcraft Movie

Posted on Wednesday, July 18 @ 07:15:59 PST by Alex_Osborn

Famed director Sam Raimi, best known for his work on the Toby MaguireSpider-Man film trilogy, was originally set to spearhead the upcomingWorld of Warcraftinspired movie, but that no longer appears to be the case. Raimi has had his hands busy withOz: The Great and Powerful, and according to an interview he had with Crave Online, doing both simply wasn't an option.

"They don't have me directing World of Warcraft anymore. Because when I took the Oz job, they had to move on to another director. They had to start making it," he explained. Blizzard hasn't divulged any official news on the matter, so expect to hear something from the company relatively soon on who will be replacing Raimi.

I for one have never been a huge fan of Raimi's work, so this news is hardly unsettling to me. How do you feel about his departure? Let us know in the comments below.
