LATEST FEATURES Being A Console Is Actually Xbox One's Worst Asset
Microsoft's newest console has lots of different features, but video games might hold the device back from the software giant's true intentions.

Sega Claims Wii U Visuals "Maybe Even Better" Than PS3

Posted on Friday, August 17 @ 08:52:29 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

Sumo Digital's upcoming racer Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed allegedly looks as good if not better on the Wii U when compared to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions. Sega marketing executive Ben Finch made the declaration to Eurogamer that graphically, the Wii U is "on par, or maybe even better" than current generation consoles when comparing the various versions of the Sega-centric racer.

We've heard chatter along these lines in the past, and honestly, it should hardly come as a surprise considering the fact that Nintendo is some five years late to the HD party.

Not only will the Wii U version of the Sonic racer boast "maybe even better" visuals, it also makes excellent use of the GamePad, allowing players to play it remotely on the screen, use it as a rear view mirror, or guide fired rockets with weapon-cam functionality.

First developers said the Wii-U is underpowered and now Sega says the opposite. Hrmm....

Whatever, in a couple of years no comparison with the X360 or PS3 will matter.

You would certainly hope that the visuals are alot better considering how old the PS3 and 360 are and especially since the two consoles are going to be obsolete in the next year or two.

... so the WiiU, which hasn't come out yet, has better graphics than the current generation, which is out the door?
    ... victory?
I will say this is the first... positive(?) endorsement I've heard for the WiiU, if that counts I guess

There have been a lot of bad Mario Kart clones, and the occasional really good one.
I may be called a heretic for this, but I think Crash Team Racing was a better game than Mario Kart 64.

I thought it was better because the gameplay was the same but the campaign mode was much better.

Agree that the gameplay was almost the same, although I liked the little gameplay tweak in CTR with boosts for jumps if you hit jump just when you went over the ramp. Yes the campaign was better. But I thought the track design was the big difference, with CTR having better tracks.

A little better than a 6 year old console? No way!

    Ninten-doh is cutting edge.

The first games on a platform always have unimpressive graphics. Early PS3 games were barely distinguishable from high-end PS2 games. Ditto 360 to original Xbox. Look at both of them now.

WiiU demos are already looking slightly better than PS3 and 360 games, and those are just the initial releases. Give it a year or three.

So they're proud their console is a little bit better looking than another one released 6 years ago. Way to go Nintendo.

to me it is tantamount to saying "wii is more powerful than xbox". sure a game like mario galaxy looked better than an xbox game, but the difference was rather negligible. i feel it will be almost an almost unnoticeable difference. also, please give the system lots of ram, proper voice chat support (wii speak anyone), an achievement system (stars, coins, would work well here), and a proper system interface.
