Shadow Of The Colossus Movie Still Exists, Director Josh Trank Signs On

Posted on Wednesday, May 23 @ 14:02:07 Eastern by

According to an exclusive by Deadline, the Shadow Of The Colossus movie is still in production and Josh Trank has signed with Sony Picture to direct the film, produced by Kevin Misher.

Trank, as a fan of the seminal game developed by Fumito Ueda, sought out the job. Meanwhile, he'll be separately making two superhero movies, Fantastic Four for Fox and Venom for Sony Pictures.

Let's hope he doesn't completely follow the events of the game as they're technically 16 colossi to defeat. (A montage?) Either way, there needs to be dialogue and some kind of character development, so I hope the writers focuses on the concept of sacrificing one's humanity for someone else, while limiting the number of spoken words to remain true to the title. The movie needs to be as artistically bold as the game itself to work.

I would be pleased if they introduced new Colossi but took hints from the original 16 and their areas.

This film has the potential to achieve the epicness of Greek mythology if donde right.

Josh Trank is also noted for making the film Chronicle. A underrated film if you ask me

Chronicle got pretty solid reviews, compared to other superhero garbage and cookie-cutter sci-fi/action films.

Chronicle was superbly well-made. This gives me high hopes, cause I can see this guy staying true to the vision of the game.

I finally got a chance to watch Chronicle tonight, and it definitely stands out as one of the best sci-fi/action films I've seen in a long time.

I think it would work best as an animated film, with an art style reminiscent of Samurai Jack, but that's just me being hopeful. Although I have faith in Trank's directorial abilities, producers and studio pressure will force this movie into film purgatory, being completely and utterly unremarkable.
