GAMING NEWSSignificant Battlefield 3 Patch Deploying TomorrowPosted on Sunday, February 5 @ 14:33:19 Eastern by Jonathan_Leack
![]() DICE is planning to release another patch for Battlefield 3 tomorrow which will continue to address issues that should've been dealt with before launch. But hey, who's to judge? The patch tomorrow will fix more than just the deadly VOIP issues that have plagued virtually every Battlefield game in existence, as it will bring some balance as well. For one, mortars will no longer be deployable in spawn areas. So long are the days of being blown up by a guy hiding in a command center while eating a TV dinner. Additionally, the M-COM Defender ribbon will be easier to obtain according to Senior Designer Fredrik Thylander, who commented that players have found the ribbon too difficult to achieve for its value. More experience points? Yes, please! Lastly, Thylander confirmed that flares will no longer break lock-on, so if you carry anti-air in your load-out, prepare to be frustrated. Complaints about clunky aiming mechanics and framerate drops have gone unaddressed, but there's always next patch -- or Counter-Strike: GO. The PlayStation 3 version will see this update before either of the other platforms, mostly due to the VOIP fix, but you can expect to see it arrive on the Xbox 360 and PC within the next couple of weeks.
