REVIEWSGRiD 2 Review
Grid 2 surprised me. I was going through the motions, getting used to the cars and their handling, when suddenly something happened. I started having fun.
State of Decay Review
Undead Lab's zombie-infested action title has finally hit XBLA. Is it worth a few of your precious Microsoft Points, or should you whack it over the head with a two-by-four and continue on your merry way?
E3 2013 has been very silent for me. There's tons of media, but most of it buzzes past my ears without them catching the important keyword that my ears are fine tuned to receive: "PC" or "Personal Computer". Microsoft, Sony, EA and Ubisoft have all shown their cards...

Sonic Rides a Skateboard, Crushes Hopes and Dreams

Here, check this out. If you're a fan of Sonic the Hedgehog, you should probably have you head checked. Wait a second, let's back up a second. I can understand if you still have a fondness for the blue blur. Sonic Generations is truly one of the best shots at bringing Sonic back to his former glory... even if SEGA is copying classic 2D Sonic levels pixel for pixel.
OK, OK, watch:
Things start out fine. The... "newer" Sonic levels play out as expected (which is to say they play out terribly). The 2D levels look great (and they sound great), but then Sonic... starts riding... a skateboard! A F***ING SKATEBOARD!!!
NO! Don't do this to him! Please! What's wrong with you, SEGA?!
There should be a rule of Trilogies established, few IP's make it past their third incarnation before they turn to crap - it's by the fourth sequel that companies just begin throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks, just look at Capcom who are criminal for doing this with the beat-em up and survival horror sequels they release on a bi-yearly basis. - Maybe Half Life 3 and Episode 3 will be the same game, the final chapter than Valve badly doesn't want to screw up?
I haven't replied in the thread but it's a good one - it's possible that a game comes out of the sonic franchise yet that doesn't wreck on impact - but this wont be it.
This doesn't surprise me considering that that level is based on the first level from SA2 (which, despite all you haters, I actually enjoyed a lot). My main worry about the game is that it seems like half of it is just old levels with new graphics. It's perfectly fine if the levels are themed like the old games, but it looks like lazy level design to me when half of it is actually the same exact levels I played as a kid with just a new coat of paint.
You know I am a huge sonic fan but this skateboard nor the snowboard really offends me. By the looks they are quick little moments of speed and for what little its worth they don't stick around that long to seem to be to annoying. Sonic's character by nature of what little there is of it. IS a daredevil complex. Loves the thrills and the gags and don't forget chili dogs. I don't see the need to be up in arms about this. From what I have seen so far the game looks like it could still be very promising. I mean at least its not a GUN because who in there right mind would think a Gun would be a great addition to the sonic universe :)
To tell the truth I only ever played Sonic on the Sega Genesis that a friend loaned me. I could get about halfway through before game over. I never fell in love with the Hedgehog, but I have no reason to hate him either. For you and all the fans of the blue blur I hope this game does not suck, in fact I hope it rocks just like you remember the old ones doing.
Exactly Merlin. Sonic rode a snowboard in sonic 3 and everyone thought it was cool but nowadays so called Sonic fans are desperate to complain about anything they can.
and I hate to say it but it's clear these people are hating on something that's so insignificant and stupid (and arguably would be a fun novelty power up) because they're expecting this game to capture a sense of fun and wonder the Sonic games made them experience as a child, but they clearly can't do that anymore because no matter how fun the game is whether it's staying 100% true to the past or not the game isn't going to be able to reverse the fact that they've developed into cynical a-holes who have to make huge deals about nothing to make themselves feel relevant and insightful.
Of course we as actual fans want some new stuff in it, if we didn't want anything new I'd just fire up Sonic's Genesis Collection.

Sonic Team knows damn well how to handle the 3D levels, they just refuse to do it correctly.
