Sony Confused By PS Vita Glitches

Posted on Wednesday, December 21 @ 11:55:50 Eastern by

Sony is surprised, baffled, and frustrated by reports of the PS Vita apparently freezing, not powering up on boot, and having a litany of other widespread glitches. David Wilson, head of UK PR at Sony Computer Entertainment, assures us that these claims are hardly the norm among the 325,000 units of PS Vitas sold during its launch weekend in Japan:

The PS Vita has had a terrific launch and sold in large numbers. We're annoyed with these stories, because we can't find any evidence of widespread glitches.

The stories even said that Sony has issued an apology for PS Vita glitches, which simply isn't true – there's an apology on our Japanese website for people who are having trouble getting through to our technical help line, but that's it.

And there's a page showing standard procedures for powering the PS Vita on and off, which has been on our site since before the launch, which has been presented in some news stories as a means of solving the alleged glitches.

The Guardian article, from which this quote derives, considers the possibility of "internet Chinese whispers" and "Sony-haters who hacked the PlayStation Network earlier" as the culprits. Either that, or you know, the PS Vita has glitches like any other console. But no, shhh, downplay it, downplay it!

Phew. My Vita is safe and sound. No issues thus far. Except for the fact that some of the games I have are in Japanese. Can you believe that? I better write an article about it now how Sony and the Vita are racist, which incidentally, is causing my Vita to glitch. Hackers did it.

There's a conspiracy theory for everything.

Why, I bet the only reason your Vita is working, is because Sony KNEW you were in the biz, and figured it would be best if at least YOU had one of the few known working ones, so you could explain to the uneducated masses that the lies being spread about the Vita are blasphemous!

    ...

YOU must be in on it too!

Couldn't they just not be dicks and apologize for any problems occurring regardless of how widespread it is or isn't instead of making sure no one mistakenly thinks they have apologized, as if somehow by apologizing they can no longer pretend it's not their fault
