Sony Parts Ways With SuperBot Entertainment

Posted on Monday, February 4 @ 14:10:26 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

It appears that PlayStation All-Stars developer SuperBot Entertainment will no longer be working with Sony on its recently released brawler. This news comes not long after reports of layoffs at the studio, which is never a good sign.

Kotaku reports that any future content for the game will now be handled by Sony's internal suite of development talent. A Sony rep sent the following statement to the outlet:
Sony Computer Entertainment can confirm that the working agreement with developer SuperBot Entertainment has amicably ended. We have had a positive working relationship with this talented studio, and wish them the best of success in their next endeavor. PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale and the title's forthcoming DLC releases will continue to be fully supported by Santa Monica Studio.
The outlet goes on to claim that one source has said that because of this, SuperBot will be forced to close its doors. The situation for the development team certainly doesn't look all too promising at the moment.

The game didn't sell well. The idea was right, but the core mechanics felt awkward and it just got boring after a while. Hopefully someone else picks up the license to try again.

It was poorly executed overall. Also had a terrible selection of characters. Definitely not "PS All-Stars". Maybe "somewhat relevant PS3 icons"

I understand him being a separate character, but why not have the ability to change into the other morality?

Dear god, this year is starting on a bad note so far. Lay offs, studios shutting down, sales going low... All this can't bold well in the long run...

I believe it is a good game, but the marketing campaign could have been way better.

I thought the game is fun enough, but its no Smash Bros. Still i was happy to get it for Xmas with the Cross Buy thing. Having it on Vita and PS3 is pretty cool.

The problem with All-Stars is that it is pure promotional material only. I mean there's a BioShock Infinite level and it isn't even close to being out yet. Dante from the new DMC was in there, the new Sly Cooper, and the new Killzone before the games were even out! Just pure promotional material. They also stuck lesser known characters in there and cross-platform characters. That's not PlayStation All-Stars. They should have kept the cross-platform characters out.

So what does "and the new Killzone before the games were even out!" mean?

That Killzone Mercenary isn't out yet.
