Sony: PS Vita "Never Designed To Be PSP 2"

Posted on Thursday, October 20 @ 13:49:46 Eastern by

Sony is in love with their PS Vita and has released the above video talking about the genesis of the hardware, with a fade-ins and cutaways to developers fawning over its capabilities and potential, but none so enamored as John Koller, Director of Hardware Marketing for SCEA:

The reality is when we started concepting for PS Vita, it was never designed to be PSP 2. We always looked at it as something greater...

From the very beginning, this was designed as a first-person-shooter-esque platform.

Of course, the two analog sticks is probably the most touted improvement of the PS Vita, despite the revolutionary back touchscreen, the Wi-Fi component with PS Vita Near, and the seamless remote-connectivity with PS3 titles, so that you can accumulate trophies no matter where you go.

I don't really care if it's not supposed to be PSP 2 or whatever. I just want it.

I always thought of the Vita as an iTouch/iPhone killer.

It has the ability to become that.

They just need to turn the Mini market into an App Store.
Which would....render the PS Store obsolete.

I don't think many people will be calling on this one, unless they don't mind having their brains and cheeks inlaid with the analog sticks.

Yeah, so fun that it deserves to be on the 3DS.

    You'll never find it though.
